Agile Coach - Execution and Delivery

The Agile Coach will provide hands-on support and guidance to specialized Agile teams and stakeholders to recommend and develop best practices for the delivery of Agile projects and timelines. This role will be responsible for providing a variety of teams with coaching plans and strategies that assess their capabilities and capacities. Their leadership and unparalleled expertise inspires others at every level, and provides every Agile team the tools, empowerment, capability and independence they need. The coach will be responsible for helping grow the Scrum Master and Agile community. This role will effectively coach multiple concurrent projects and ensure they continue to transform banking, exceed customer expectations and deliver on project objectives.

What you get to do:

  • Coach agile teams in the methodology of agile.

  • Working in collaboration with others this role will help develop strategies, standards and requirements for the agile process. 

  • Lead teams on how to use Agile practices to produce high quality products that meet user story acceptance criteria and satisfy customer needs.

  • Take Agile projects from initiation through release, provide oversight to ensure alignment of Agile/Scrum practices, including but not limited to: project kick-off, sprint, release and deployment planning.

  • Facilitate discussion leading to collective decision-making, goal setting and conflict resolution within the team.

  • Be a thought leader on Agile methodology with a passion for relationship building:

  • Act as a liaison between the product owner, development team, and management in order to ensure that the requirements are met.

  • Guides the team to be self-organized to advance the Agile Scrum best practices.

  • Provide training to employees on the agile process. 

  • Communicate and report team progress, status updates, product demos and accomplishments ensuring transparency of progress and outcomes.

  • Provide proactive coaching to the team and recommend continuous improvement of processes and tools to optimize team productivity, quality and speed-to-market.

  • Coaches multiple projects and interfaces with product owners.

  • Remove obstacles to delivery success through the proactive management of external dependencies, team problem-solving and the development of new solutions or approaches to ongoing challenges.

  • Facilitate and engage in business analysis, user experience and technical conversations across platforms and multiple levels of influence.

  • Collaborate with other ATB Agile Coaches to facilitate increasing maturity and effectiveness in the application of Agile across the organization.


University degree in business administration or management, or a combination of education, experience and training.

  • 3+ years experience in an Agile and/or Traditional Project Management environment (medium-to-large scale initiatives) using influence to facilitate outcomes.

  • Agile Management Framework and well documented Agile techniques (User Stories, Burndown techniques, Acceptance Test Driven Development, Continuous testing, etc.).

  • Demonstrated experience being collaborative, team oriented and are comfortable managing relationships across the organization in a wide range of roles and at differing levels across the organization. 

  • A passion for agile and know when and how to advocate and temper this enthusiasm in the context of a large, organizational transformation. 

  • Strong experience in communicating complex information and concepts to a variety of audiences, including executive management to support decision making (written and verbal).

  • Possesses working knowledge of contemporary agile project management tools such as Jira and Confluence.

  • The ability to motivate and model open communication to help surface issues for faster resolution.                                                                                                               

  • Experience working in a dependent multi agile team environment.

  • Financial institution knowledge is considered an asset.

  • You keep the customer at the heart of everything you do: Empathy is a core driver in which you navigate the world. You don’t build products, processes and solutions for the sake of checking something off your checklist, you build with the end user in mind, openly engaging new ideas, listening with intent and making decisions with the desire to balance both compassion with logical reasoning.
