You would be responsible for working with all Areas of Expertise in ATB Financial to understand and translate their information requirements. The role actively is involved in the support of operations, as well as design, development, analysis and implementation of solutions in Hadoop BigData related technologies. As the Analyst you would define relevant data to be extracted including data attributes which ultimately is used to build the information solution to aid the AOE’s with attaining the information required.

The primary focus of this position is to perform guidance, consultation and operational support to information consumers on Data Management needs in an Hadoop BigData Platform. As well to determine and implement Hadoop BigData solutions that service business and analytic objectives.

How will you do it?

You are an hands-on person, who has strong analytical and problem solving skills. You strive for continuous improvement, finding joy in always making things better. Not only do you enjoy solving problems, you take responsibility to find the root cause, whether it is technical or business process, always ensuring that it does not reoccur.

As someone deeply committed to maintaining the pace and change of technology you are someone who stays current with the toolsets you require to be an expert in your field and in the ATB environment. As such you can also be confident to make recommendations for better tools and solutions where necessary. But additionally as an expert in the BW system you are versed in supporting and enhancing existing solutions as well as  developing new  to bring this data to BW system.

You would have the opportunity to perform integrations in HADOOP, DB2, MSSQL or SAP HANA systems that would be used in developing information solutions and would also develop solutions that are automatically provided to end users vs developing solutions where the user must “pull” them. Depending on the requirement, ETL needs to be performed either in Apache Nifi, Kafka, Scoop or relevant Hadoop integration technologies on Hive, HDFS and GFS based storages.

Specifically, you will:

  • Support and monitor system loads, enhance data models, queries, integrations, and other ongoing production support tasks.

  • Translate requirements into a clearly defined Functional /Business Requirement Document – Important to ensure the requirements are captured correctly to ensure an efficient build.

  • Understand the process of building, testing and promoting Information Solutions through the ATB environment and adhering to it

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Perform security reviews of architecture and application designs, as well as application source code reviews

  • Perform mobile, complex application, infrastructure, as well as social engineering assessments and penetration testing

  • Document technical issues identified during security assessments

  • Assist with building, hardening, and maintaining systems used for security assessments and penetration testing

  • Research cutting edge security topics and new attack vectors

  • Assist with improvements for ATB’s security practices, including the continuous enhancement of existing methodology and reporting formats, as well as training collateral.

  • Communication of findings/innovations internally, to ATB colleagues (via papers/reports)

  • Demonstrate the ability to be an industry expert

  • Mentor to team members

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

This role requires skills and experience in Hadoop BigData which would include experience in designing and implementing Nifi based integrations and good knowledge of Hive and HDFS. Working with HANA would be considered an asset. If you had experience working in a financial institution we would consider that a perk. We might also look for the following in your resume:

  • Recognized post-secondary Information Technology university/ college/ technical school or industry certification

  • Experience in Apache Nifi, HDFS, Hive and Kafka

  • Experience in managing and addressing performance issues/concerns (e.g. tuning Hive queries, lengthy extracts/loads)

  • Experience in development of ETL flows with complex Transformations/Routines

ATTRIBUTES FOR SUCCESS:

  • You focus on impact over hard work: what isn't of a concern is the hours you work, but your results and impact on team members and customers

  • You like to solve difficult problems, together: no one said transforming banking was going to be easy, but we’re collectively reimagining it and there are no solo heroes welcome

  • You operate with a mentality of Build-Measure-Learn: our agile mindset is not just for our technical teams, it's a mindset that every one of us is asked to operate from. We move fast, we make mistakes but we measure the impact, learn, grow and change as a result

  • You focus on 10X and leave the incremental thinking at home: if something doesn't have significant impact, you are the person to challenge whether or not it's worth doing

  • You do it with passion or not at all: you’re inspired by our purpose and you see the link between yourself and the work you are doing to transform banking

  • You’re comfortable with being uncomfortable: we won’t always have the answers and change is a constant in our world. As a Transformer you trust in our vision and own an attitude of willingness and patience

  • You keep the customer at the heart of everything you do: Empathy is a core driver in which you navigate the world. You don’t build products, processes and solutions for the sake of checking something off your checklist, you build with the end user in mind, openly engaging new ideas, listening with intent and making decisions with the desire to balance both compassion with logical reasoning.

As a team member with the Transformation team at ATB, you can expect:

  • No day will ever be the same - we’re learning, iterating and making big steps towards our vision of transforming an entire industry, everyday

  • The ability to grow a career within an inspiring, impact focused culture where you are surrounded by changemakers and leaders that empower you to use your voice to make banking work for people

  • To be a part of the energy of an organization that is unlike any other, where you may pinch yourself on the daily and wonder how you got so lucky

  • Bragging rights! You get to call yourself a Transformer and an ATBer and know you play a direct role in helping us become a cutting edge financial institution (it’s going to feel more like a technology company, but either way it’s hella cool.)

  • An excellent benefits and pension package, opportunities for career advancement, and a financial institution that’s leading the way in change – now you’re talking about a career with a company that allows you to grow.

  • Amazing benefits for your everyday banking, mortgages, loans and investments needs.
